A fastener100, suitable for connecting together two pieces of which at least one is a textile, comprises a front element 200 forming a backwardly open seat cavity (201, figure 1), and a back element 300 having at least one bump (301, figure 6) for location in the seat cavity. The front element 200 and back element 300 each comprise magnets 235, 329 which are polarized so as to attract each other and assist in the location of the bump in the seat cavity on juxtaposition of the front and back elements 200, 300. The front and back elements additionally comprise a plurality of complementary catch faces 203, 205 which secure the engagement of the front and back elements, and are operable to prevent inadvertent release of the back element 300 from the front element 200 when the former is subjected to forces in any of a plurality of disparate directions. |
