摘要 <p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress increase in a processing scale of hardware and software and an increase in electric power when displaying an image on a display each pixel of which has an even number of sub-pixels through sampling rate conversion of a high-definition image signal pixels of which are more than the pixels of the display. <P>SOLUTION: A sub-pixel pixel number converter 12 generates a luminance signal Lbs by subjecting a luminance signal La to sampling pixel number conversion at a sampling frequency of 1706 cpL a half as high as a sampling frequency of 3412 cpL of sub-sampling pixel number conversion. A first pixel unit pixel number converter 13 outputs a luminance signal Lbp generated by subjecting the luminance signal La to pixel unit pixel number conversion at a sampling frequency of 853 cpL.
