The present invention relates to an adaptive cruise control system and an adaptive cruise control method of a vehicle with a manual transmission, wherein a target gear stage is determined if a vehicle with a manual transmission is accelerated during adaptive cruise control, and the determined target gear stage is displayed if the determined target gear stage does not correspond to the current gear stage. According to an embodiment of the present invention, provided is an adaptive cruise control system with a manual transmission, comprising: a radar for generating an acceleration command or a deceleration command based on information on a preceding vehicle and information on a user vehicle; a first detection part for detecting the speed of a vehicle; a second detection part for detecting the revolutions per minute of an engine; a third detection part for detecting the position of a manual transmission; and a brake control device for generating engine-required torque according to an acceleration command received from the radar in the process of controlling the vehicle to drive while maintaining a configured distance from the preceding vehicle to transmit the same to an engine control device, determining a target gear stage using a gear stage corresponding to the speed of the vehicle detected by the first detection part, the revolutions per minute of the engine detected by the second detection part and the position detected by the third detection part if engine torque is generated for acceleration according to the engine-required torque by the engine control device, and displaying the target gear stage if the determined target gear stage does not correspond to a gear stage corresponding to the position detected by the third detection part. |
