<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically segment a medical image of an object, particularly the non-flat surface of a heart valve. <P>SOLUTION: The present invention is related to a method and an apparatus each including stages of: detecting a surface boundary 2 deciding a boundary of the non-flat surface 4 of the object 1; creating a model surface 5a spreading inside the surface boundary 2; correcting the model surface 5a until a corrected model surface 5b is generated by distance information 8 including information related to a distance between the model surface 5a and the non-flat surface 4 of the object 1; and drawing the corrected model surface 5b. Preferably, the correction of the model surface 5a is executed by directing three-dimensional volume rendering of the object 1 to a direction substantially perpendicular to the model surface 5a by use of a three-dimensional or four-dimensional image data set. Thereby, the information related to the distance between the model surface 5a and the non-flat surface 4 of the object 1 can be evaluated until the corrected model surface 5b is generated. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT</p> |
