A steering apparatus for a vehicle, includes: a steering column (2); a single electric motor (M) being selectively connected to a telescopic mechanism (3) or a tilt mechanism (4); a steering wheel (100); a drive mechanism (5) transmitting an output torque of the electric motor (M) to a telescopic threaded shaft (33) and a tilt threaded shaft (43); and a connecting-disconnecting mechanism (6) having a first clutch mechanism (6a) connecting and disconnecting the drive mechanism (5) to and from the tilt threaded shaft (43) and a second clutch mechanism (6b) connecting and disconnecting the drive mechanism (5) to and from the telescopic threaded shaft (33), the connecting-disconnecting mechanism (6) bringing one of the first clutch mechanism (6a) and the second clutch mechanism (6b) in a connected state to the drive mechanism (5) and bringing the other of the first clutch mechanism (6a) and the second clutch mechanism (6b) in a disconnected state from the drive mechanism (5), wherein the drive mechanism (5) and the connecting-disconnecting mechanism (6) constitute a single power connecting-disconnecting unit (D).
