The invention relates to a thermochromic composite material provided in the form of a fibre or film, which includes at least one polymeric material and thermochromic pigments capable of spin transition, the thermochromic pigments being included in the body of said polymeric material. A method for manufacturing said material includes: a step of dispersing thermochromic pigments in a polymeric material in the solid or liquid state in combination with a surface-active agent; then shaping the material into a fibre or film; and then stretching the resulting fibre or film.
