The invention relates to a dust extractor hood with an operating device, a control device for controlling a fan motor and an evaluation device for evaluating the operational states of a hob associated to the extractor hood for the control of the fan motor, wherein the evaluation unit is associated to a communication module. In order to design an extractor hood depending on the operational state of a hob and/or cooking device and a method of operation of said extractor hood in a way such that no additional measurement value receiver is required for detecting the operational state of the hob or cooking device, the evaluation device is associated to a communication module designed for transmitting device data and/or operational data.
