<p>A front mounting (10, Figure 3) of a motor vehicle body has a lock crossmember (12, Figure 3) extending transversely and connected to left and right longitudinally extending side members (4, 6, Figure 2). An elongated plastic component carrier 20 has left and right fastening sections 24, 26 connecting to the side members and an elongated connecting section 23 between and integral with fastening sections 24, 26. Fastening sections 24, 26 may comprise brackets and may have radiator mountings 27, 28 protruding from their bottom edges. Connecting section 23 is forward of the lock crossmember, and may comprise an integral central vertical support 25 bracing against a bumper crossmember (16, Figure 3). Suitably, metal inserts (40, Figure 7) are provided in lateral stabilizers 21, 22 in carrier 20. Carrier 20 may be injection moulded, and may have fastening points for a bumper cladding and for headlamps or other attachments.</p> |
