<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To add a fall prevention function to a socket which is a tool for fastening. <P>SOLUTION: This socket includes a socket part 12 which is provided with a connection shaft part 11 having a substantially hexagonal shape in cross section on a base end side and a receiving hole part 13 having a substantially hexagonal shape in cross section on a distal end side of the connection shaft part 11. A spiral wire material 15 made of a metallic spring material is wound around an outer periphery from the socket part 12 to the connection shaft part 11 in a portion where the socket part 12 and the connection shaft part 11 are connected to each other. The wire material 15 and the socket part 12 are connected to each other in an idling manner while the wire material 15 and the socket part 12 are connected to each other in a non-idling manner. The socket part 12 therefore is held by the wire material 15 to be prevented from falling when a portion on the socket part 12 side of the connection shaft part 11 is broken. The spiral interval of the wire material 15 is made zero. The spiral direction of the wire material 15 is made a left direction which is opposite to a fastening right direction of the socket.
