a detection unit configured to detect a specific object in an image; an update unit configured to update a value obtained from the specific object detected by the detection unit using a first lookup table for correcting the image, the first look up table being generated based on a characteristic amount of the image; a generation unit configured to generate, based on the value updated by the update unit, a second lookup table for correcting a luminance value of the specific object; and a correction unit configured to correct the image using the generated first lookup table and second lookup table.
