Provided are a mobile terminal for guiding a user to enable the user to effectively manage residual electricity of the mobile terminal, and a method for managing electricity of the same. The method according to the present invention comprises the steps of: determining if a residual electricity amount is equivalent to or less than standard electricity when an electricity managing mode is performed; generating guide data to be provided to a user based on the residual electricity amount when the residual electricity amount is equivalent to or less than standard electricity; and displaying the guide data.
