PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power supply device capable of automatically outputting a proper voltage to a connected light source, and to provide a luminaire using the same. ! SOLUTION: A power supply device 1 comprises: a DC power supply circuit 2 in which a series circuit of a parallel circuit of a switch 41 and a resistor 42, and a light-emitting diode array 5 is connected across output ends; and a control circuit 3 controlling the switch 41 and the DC power supply circuit 2. The control circuit 3, at initiation, controls the DC power supply circuit 2 so that an output voltage Vo becomes a predetermined initiation output voltage, detects a voltage Vr across both ends of the resistor 42 in a state where the switch 41 is controlled to be in an off state, and estimates a rated voltage of the light-emitting diode array 5 on the basis of the detected voltage Vr across both the ends of the resistor 42.
