The present invention relates to a composition for preventing or treating degenerative nervous diseases, containing a Myagropsis myagroides extract and sargachromenol isolated from Myagropsis myagroides as active ingredients. An extract obtained by using Myagropsis myagroides and sargachromenol isolated from the same of the present invention exhibits the effects of effectively inhibiting the generation of nitrogen monoxide (NO), prostaglandin E_2 (PGE_2) and inflammatory cytokines and the expression of iNOS and COX-2, and thus can be useful for preventing and treating degenerative nervous diseases. In particular, Myagropsis myagroides of the present invention is a natural material and has stability without cytotoxicity. Thus, the composition including the Myagropsis myagroides extract and sargachromenol as an active ingredient of the present invention does not have side effects to the human body so as to be safe even when used for a long time.
