PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical element molding method and an optical element molding apparatus exhibiting improved shape stability and maintaining excellent yield in a mold movement method, when manufacturing optical elements. ! SOLUTION: An optical element molding method comprises: a heating step for heating a mold 50 containing an optical material by a heating plate 3b to soften the optical material; a press step for pressing the softened optical material by a press plate 4b to apply a shape of an optical element to the optical material; and a cooling step, after the press step, for cooling the optical material by a cooling plate 5b to solidify the optical material. When the mold 50 is transferred in the cooling step, a preset temperature of the cooling plate 5b is raised from a reference temperature T0 to a hunting suppression temperature T1 (where, Tp>T1>T0, and Tp is a preset temperature of the plate in the preceding position).
