PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hair cosmetic which contains an active ingredient which is excellent in biosafety, and prevents and improves hair loss and thinning hair, as well as improves a decreased gloss and sturdiness of the hair. ! SOLUTION: The invention provides a composition for the hair containing cis-13-docosenoic acid (erucic acid) or a salt thereof, and cis-13-eicosenoic acid (gondoic acid) or a salt thereof, and a hair cosmetic containing the composition concerned. The hair cosmetic has an excellent hair restoration effect and hair quality improving effect based on a vascular endothelial cell growth factor (VEGF) production promoting action possessed by the composition for hair concerned.
