The package has a slat (8) including a primary portion to be positioned in contact with a cutting section of a cheese piece (2). The slat has a secondary portion to be positioned in contact with another cutting section of the cheese piece. The portions of the slat are connected by a hinge forming part positioned near intersection of the cutting sections. The hinge forming part is realized of a same piece with the portions of the slat that is made of polypropylene. An independent claim is also included for a method for packing a cheese piece by a package.
