An improved door jamb is disclosed which comprises a head jamb and side jambs wherein the profile of said head jamb and side jambs is defined by a rabbet portion having at least one ribbed member, a pair of opposing face portion extending perpendicularly from opposing ends of the rabbet portion, and a pair of opposing U-shaped channels extending from said face portion. U-shaped channels serve as a connection point of the door jamb to the wall which improves its hold and rigidity as compared to the existing jambs without any U-shaped channel. Aside from improving its hold and rigidity, the U-shaped channels will provide a clean U-groove line between the jamb and the wall that can serve as a design to improve the aesthetic look of the wall in general. Traditionally, the connection between the jamb and the wall is covered by wood moldings or casings. With this improved steel door jamb with U-shaped channels, there will be no need to install wood moldings or casings to terminate the jamb and the wall; therefore, this would reduce construction costs of the project. These channels will already serve as the design for the jamb and wall termination. |
