In order to reduce the possibility of cables coming into contact with one another while reducing the size of a case, an image reading device is provided with: a first reading unit (22) capable of moving between a movement start position (P1) and a movement end position (P2); a second reading unit (23) capable of moving at half the speed of the movement speed of the first reading unit (22) in conjunction with the movement of the first reading unit (22); a control unit (5) disposed below the first reading unit (22) more towards the movement end position (P2) than the movement range of the second reading unit (23); a cable (27) connected to the control unit (5) through the first reading unit (22) and then the second reading unit (23); and a guiding member (28) which is disposed so as to protrude from the second reading unit (23) towards the first reading unit (22), and which supports a portion of or the entire cable (27) between the first reading unit (22) and the second reading unit (23).
