Provided is a terminal. The terminal comprises: a conducting plate for forming a capacitor together with a human hand when the human hand holds the terminal; and a processor connected to the conducting plate, the processor being used for detecting a capacitance value of the capacitor, and determining a holding gesture for the terminal according to the detected capacitance value and a correlation between a preset capacitance value and holding gestures. In the embodiment of the present invention, by arranging a conducting plate on a terminal, when a human hand holds the terminal, the conducting plate respectively forms a capacitor together with human hands. Since there is a difference between the capacitance values of the capacitors formed between the conducting plate on the terminal and human hands when the terminal is held using different holding gestures, the correlation between a capacitance value and holding gestures is preset using the difference. During actual detection, matching is conducted according to the detected capacitance values of the capacitors and the preset correlation so that a holding gesture for the terminal can be determined. |
