摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: a positive electrode active material which enables the materialization of a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery superior in high-speed charge and discharge characteristics even when used under more severe charge and discharge conditions than those in the past as in car use; a positive electrode including such a positive electrode active material; and a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery which includes such a positive electrode and is superior in high-speed charge and discharge characteristics, and which is intended for a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery car use and the like.SOLUTION: A positive electrode active material comprises: a lithium transition metal oxide; and a basic compound. The peaks detected by transmission type electron microscope-energy dispersive X-ray analyses on a section of the positive electrode active material include at least, a peak (A) coming from at least one element selected from a group consisting of elements of Groups XIII to XVII of the periodic table, except metal elements, carbon and nitrogen, and a peak (B) coming from at least one element selected from a group consisting of elements of Group I to II of the periodic table and aluminum except hydrogen. The at least one peak (A) and the at least one peak (B) satisfy a predetermined relational expression.
