PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control of the water quantity and temperature of a water storage tank 10 with reduced amount of water and steam supplied from outside. ! SOLUTION: An apparatus for heat treating containers includes a plurality of high-temperature water sprinkling regions 12A and 12B, and low-temperature water sprinkling regions 12C, 12D, 12E and 12F. Water is supplied from water storage tanks 10A to 10F of each of the water sprinkling regions 12A to 12F to upper sprinkler nozzles 8A to 8F, so as to be sprinkled onto a container 4 transported on a transportation conveyor 6 for heat sterilization and cooling treatment.
