1. A field device apparatus, comprising:
a measuring device; and a communications device; wherein the measuring device is adapted to determine a measurement value and to communicate with the communications device; and wherein the communications device is adapted to set an operating mode for connection to an evaluation device, which operating mode can be selected from a first operating mode and a second operating mode; wherein the first operating mode enables an indirect connection to the evaluation device via a communications network; wherein the second operating mode enables a direct connection to the evaluation device; and wherein the indirect and the direct connection involves the use of same transmission technology.
