An apparatus (2) for introducing a solution, including a mixture of air bubbles in saline into the uterus and fallopian tubes is described. The apparatus comprises a hub (14) including a proximal end portion (16) adapted for removable attachment to a solution source (22) and a distal end portion (18) adapted for removable attachment with a catheter (28). A lumen (20) having a variable diameter extends between the hub proximal and distal end portions configured to create the Venturi effect, in which a vacuum is created. The vacuum draws air through an airflow passage (42) and into the hub lumen (20) where it mixes with a saline solution flowing therethrough to create a mixture of air bubbles in saline. The contrast image crated by the air bubbles in saline allows the uterus and fallopian tubes to be sonographically visualized.
|
