PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a split cage in which the occurrence of abnormal wear at pocket faces of cage segments can be prevented even if there occurs clogging in a clearance between the adjacent cage segments, and to provide a roller bearing.SOLUTION: A split cage 5 comprises a plurality of cage segments 6 which define and form pockets 25 for housing tapered rollers 4 using a pair of rim parts 21, 22 and a pair of bar parts 23, 24. The plurality of cage segments 6 are rotationally guided by the tapered rollers 4 while the cage segments 6 are annularly arranged along a circumferential direction in an annular space between an inner ring 2 and an outer ring 3. Radial clearances S4, S5 between radial inside parts of pocket faces 23a, 24a being side faces of the bar parts 23, 24 and external peripheral faces 4a of the tapered rollers 4 are set to be larger than amounts &Dgr;d of a change in pitch circle radii of the cage segments 6 generated when the cage segments 6 are moved to the radial-direction outside by thermal expansion. |
