Provided are: a polariser in which red discoloration does not readily occur in heat resistance testing, even if the polariser is thin; and a polarising plate which includes the same. The polariser, which is formed by adsorbing and orienting iodine on a uniaxially-stretched polyvinyl alcohol-based resin layer, has a thickness of 10 µm or less, and the ratio of the iodine phase difference to the polyvinyl alcohol phase difference is 0.38 or more. |
