The present invention relates to a head rest attached to a seat of an automobile, and more specifically, to a head rest having a head support attached thereto for an automobile wherein a support for supporting a head is mounted on both sides of a head rest installed on an upper side of a back support of an automobile seat. An objective of the present invention is to provide a function for absorbing an impact on a front and a rear of the head rest and provide support and comfort in necessary form when a passenger rests on both sides of the head rest. The present invention installs an active, foldable head rest on both sides of a front cover of the head rest. Both sides of the head rest can be pulled forwards or pushed backwards while the back support is bent backwards when resting in the automobile to let a folding bracket protrude to support the head comfortably. The present invention satisfies various requirements such as safety regulations regarding a head rest, customer requests, styling, etc. and provides a passenger with an active head support which conventional head rests have not been able to provide.
