PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make each of merging vehicles smoothly merge and travel even under a situation that an automatic drive vehicle and a non-automatic drive vehicle mixedly exist. ! SOLUTION: A merging support system recognizes vehicle number information, a passing time, a traveling position, and a traveling speed with respect to each of a merged vehicle at a main lane side of a road and a merging vehicle at a branch lane side, and also recognizes whether or not the vehicle is an automatic drive vehicle. The system identifies the merged vehicle and the merging vehicle by the vehicle number information, refers to an acceleration characteristic which is associated with the vehicle number information, calculates the traveling speed for expanding an inter-vehicle distance at merging when the merging vehicle is the non-automatic drive vehicle on the basis of the passing time, the traveling position, the traveling speed, automatic drive, and acceleration characteristics of the merged vehicle and the merging |
