PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent image defect to be caused when a substance on a belt body rear face is accumulated on transfer means. ! SOLUTION: Transfer means 7 includes a brush 71 which comes in contact with a belt body 6 to rub it, and brush holding means 72 which holds the brush 71. The brush 71 includes a plurality of brush members 712, 713 different in electric resistance. The electric resistance of the upstream brush member 712 arranged upstream in a rotation moving direction of the belt body 6 is higher than the electric resistance of the downstream brush member 713 arranged downstream. The upstream brush member 712 has electric resistance which is substantially the same as or higher than that of the belt body 6, and is arranged upstream of a contact area D between the belt body 6 and an image carrier 1.
