SELF-CENTERING CLIP AND JAW An apparatus (100) for applying surgical clips to tissue includes a handle assembly (102) having a trigger (108) and a shaft (104) extending therefrom. The shaft (104) includes at least one surgical clip therein. Each clip includes a pair of legs (220a, 220b) connected by a crossbar (220c). Each of the pair of legs (220a, 220b) has an inwardly (222a, 222b) and an outwardly (224a, 224b) facing surface, the outwardly facing surface (224a, 224b) having a raised profile (226a, 226b) protruding therefrom and extending longitudinally therealong. A jaw assembly (120) is disposed at a distal end of the shaft (104) and includes first (120a) and second (120b) opposed jaws moveable between a spaced apart and an approximated position. Each jaw (120a, 120b) defines a recess (122a, 122b) extending longitudinally along opposing inner surfaces thereof. Each recess (1 22a, 122b) defines a longitudinally extending groove (1 24a, 124b) having a profile substantially complementary to the raised profile (226a, 226b) of the legs (220a, 220b) of the clips. The legs (220a, 220b) of each clip are positionable at least partially within respective grooves (124a, 124b) of the recesses (122a, 122b) of the jaws (120a, 120b). |
