PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an on-vehicle communication device capable of reducing power consumption, and also to provide a control method therefor.SOLUTION: An on-vehicle communication device includes: a modem 12 for performing radio communication via a portable telephone network; a determination unit 183 for determining whether the modem 12 is in a radio-communicable state; and a determination timing determination unit 184 for stopping the determination operation of the determination unit 183 until a predetermined condition is established when the drive source of a vehicle is in a stop state and also a radio-communication impossible state has been determined by the determination unit 183. |
