PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that in automatic focusing, narrowing allowable range for defocusing may require more time before completion of focusing and widening allowable range may cause deviation of focuses.SOLUTION: An ophthalmic photographing apparatus illuminates the fundus oculus of a subject's eye with one of illumination light of a first wavelength for observation of fundus oculi and illumination light of a second wavelength for photographing of fundus oculi and obtains an image of the fundus oculus by way of focusing means in an observation photographing optical system. A control method for the ophthalmic photographing apparatus comprises: detecting a focusing state between the fundus oculus and imaging means on the basis of an image of a focus index projected to the fundus oculus; obtaining a movement distance the focusing means on the basis of the obtained focusing state and the optical path length difference in the observation photographing optical system corresponding to the wavelength difference between the illumination light of the first wavelength and the illumination light of the second wavelength; and driving the focusing means along the optical axis direction of the observation photographing optical system, according to the obtained movement distance. |
