SOLUTION: An ink jet printer comprises: head units provided with piezoelectric elements 200; a driving signal generation section for generating a driving signal; a control section for outputting printing data SI and a clock signal SCK; a reception section 400 for receiving the printing data SI and the clock signal SCK, executing consistency confirmation processing for confirming whether or not the printing data SI received can be latched by the clock signal SCK received and outputting printing data SIx capable of being latched and a clock signal CKx; and a head control section 500 and a selection section 600 for supplying driving signals COM-A and COM-B to the piezoelectric elements 200 and driving heads on the basis of the printing data SIx and the clock signal CKx output from the reception section 400.
