The present invention pertains to a liquid crystal display device in which a color filter containing a specific liquid crystal composition and an organic dye having a specific grain diameter distribution is used. The present invention provides a liquid crystal display device for preventing decreases in the voltage-holding ratio (VHR) of a liquid crystal layer and increases in the ion density (ID) thereof, and overcoming the problem of display defects such as white spots, uneven orientation, and image retention. This liquid crystal display device has features for preventing decreases in the voltage-holding ratio (VHR) of the liquid crystal layer and increases in the ion density (ID) thereof, and suppressing the occurrence of display defects such as image retention; therefore, this liquid crystal display device is particularly useful as an active-matrix-drive IPS-mode or FFS-mode liquid crystal display device, and can be applied as a liquid crystal display device in liquid crystal televisions, monitors, cellular phones, smart phones, and other such devices. |
