In a mowing machine having a bladed rotor 10 rotating about a vertical axis, the blades 25 are pivoted on inclined pivot-pins 26 so as to be capable of swinging freely centrifugally during operation. The rotor is upwardly domed and has a circumferential flange 14 adjacent to which are welded downwardly-domed sheet-metal protuberances 17, holes being aligned in the rotor and in the protuberances to receive bearings 21 for the pivot-pins. Domed washers 23 and felt pads 22 prevent the ingress of dirt.
