PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve high-accuracy shelf space management capable of preventing articles of commerce from being biased on the basis of specific numerical values such as a crossing ratio and a sales deviation determined based on sales/profit margin information on articles of commerce.SOLUTION: An analysis item table is created while referring to a sales record table and a shelf space allocation table, specific analysis items selected from the analysis item table are divided into a plurality of groups and the number of shelves are divided into a plurality of groups. An analysis item corresponding to one specific analysis item is extracted for a certain article of commerce from the analysis item table, a value of the extracted analysis item is compared with values of the specific analysis items divided into the groups, and the number of shelves extracted from the analysis item table for the certain article of commerce is compared with the number of shelves divided into the groups, whereby each of all articles of commerce is classified into any of the plurality of groups. An optimum number of shelves per article of commerce is calculated by determining whether the number of articles of commerce belonging to a predetermined group among the plurality of groups into which the articles of commerce are classified is equal to or larger than a certain number. |
