PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a preparation of polyphenylene ether (PPE) and a method of manufacturing PPE improving its safety and yield.SOLUTION: There is provided a method for manufacturing PPE improving safety and yield of the method by maintaining a combustible solvent at lower air concentration than minimum explosion concentration, keeping to supply an oxygen gas at lower concentration than limit oxygen concentration of a solvent, using a reactor having a rotary sealed blender sealed by a magnetic rotary feedthrough and preventing generation of static electricity. There is provided a method for manufacturing PPE by adding a copper-amine complex catalyst to a PPE reactant in 500 to 5000 of mass ratio of 2,6-DMP to a copper ion where the catalyst is the Cto Calcohol, surfactant, and copper-amine complex, by weight ratio to the copper ion, Cto Calcohol of 5 to 1000 and a surfactant of 1 to 200, and the Cto Calcohol is methanol, ethanol, hexyl alcohol or the like and a combination thereof. |
