PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid developer that has excellent positive chargeability.SOLUTION: There is provided a liquid developer that includes a carrier liquid having silicone oil as a main component, and toner particles including a polyester resin subjected to surface treatment with polymeric amines, where when the toner particles are reacted with a fluorescein isothiocyanate derivative represented by the following formula (I), the amount of absorption of the fluorescein isothiocyanate derivative on the toner particles is 5×10mol/g or more, where X and Y each independently represent a hydrogen atom or a halogen atom.
