The internal combustion engine further has a control device (6) arranged to provide a heating mode of the internal combustion engine where the first group (4) cylinders are deactivated and the second group (5) cylinders are activated. The control device (6) is arranged to provide a higher proportion recirculated exhaust gas than inlet air to the first group (4) cylinders in the heating mode.
