PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a variation of responsiveness caused by the eccentricity of a plunger with respect to a magnetism collecting member, in an electromagnetic actuator which is employed to a valve lift adjusting device of an internal combustion engine.SOLUTION: An adapter 551 as a "magnetism collecting member" which is arranged at an end part of a plunger 651 side of a permanent magnet, and collects the magnetic flux of the permanent magnet has a plate-shaped main body part 560, and a trapezoidal part 570 which opposes the plunger 651 at a distance ga1 at which magnetism is effectively transmitted between the plunger 651 and itself. The trapezoidal part 570 is formed into a shape symmetric to an orthogonal line y which intersects with a reference line x being a linear line for connecting a center axis M of the main body part 560 and a center axis Q of the trapezoidal part 570. By this constitution, a variation of an effective opposing area caused by the eccentricity of the plunger can be reduced. As a result, a variation of a magnet suction force can be reduced, and a variation of a dead time can be reduced. Furthermore, a variation of the responsiveness of an electromagnetic actuator can be reduced. |
