Provided is a translation display device that maintains a display frame rate while translating and displaying characters that are extracted from a screen. A translation processing unit (5) performs translation processing when not performing translation processing for another differing image. An image movement analysis unit (7) determines the deviation between the position of a subject in a reference image for which translation processing has most recently been completed and the position of a subject in the most recently acquired image. Characters that have been translated in the reference image are displayed in a superimposed manner on the most recently acquired image on the basis of the position at which the characters were extracted in the reference image and information related to the abovementioned deviation.
