PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid interference between range-finding light and information light, concerning a communication apparatus.SOLUTION: A communication system includes: an on-vehicle device to be mounted on an automobile; and a communication apparatus to be installed on a road. The communication apparatus transmits information by optical radio communication and the on-vehicle device receives the transmitted information. The communication apparatus inhibits light emission of information light IR, i.e. transmission of the information till a first inhibition period t1 elapses after the reception of range-finding light LR from the on-vehicle device. When the first prohibition period t1 elapses after the reception of the range-finding light LR from the on-vehicle device (S140: YES), the elapse time point of the first inhibition period t1 is set as a transmission timing then the information is transmitted by the light emission of the information light IR, i.e. optical radio communication (S160). |
