PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a handrail for a vehicle capable of fully performing the protruding/retracting operation of a handrail bar with one hand. ! SOLUTION: A rotary shaft 4, which supports a handrail bar 1 in such a manner that the handrail bar 1 can be protruded from and retracted to a vehicle entrance G when a vehicle door opens, is vertically provided at a proper place in a vehicle. A latch 10, in which notches 8 and 9 are concaved on two places of an outer edge so as to correspond to each of a protruding position M and a retracting position N on the handrail bar 1 at a home position X around the rotary shaft, is pivotally attached on the rotary shaft 4. When the latch 10 is energized in such a manner that the handrail bar 1 is arranged at an intermediate position L between the protruding position M and the retracting position N, and either the notch 8 or 9 is arranged at the home position X, a striker 13 engageable/disengageable to/from the notches 8 and 9 is provided on a manual lever 14.
