A tongue depressor has a first end and a second end and an intermediate portion. A sample collection device having a rod with a fibrous tip is mounted on the tongue depressor thereby facilitating collection of a sample from a patient's mouth using just one hand. The fibrous tip extends beyond the first end of the tongue depressor thereby facilitating collection of the sample. The rod can be easily removed from the tongue depressor for storage or analysis of the sample. |
