Pharmaceutical compositions comprising peptide- metal complexes are disclosed. Such compositions can be formulated for targeted or untargeted delivery of a drug to a cancerous cell, Targeted compositions of the disclosure can deliver metal-peptide complexes to cells that express tumor markers or choice. Untargeted cell populations can deliver metal-peptide complexes to the more permeable tumor vasculature. Such pharmaceutical compositions can be more effective than cisplatin, carboplatin, oxaliplatin, and other transition metal therapies in treating cancer.
