The present invention relates to a method and a system to detect movement. One embodiment of the present invention provides a movement detection system, comprising: a pixel based detection unit which extracts a first panoramic area for each pixel by comparing previous frame and current frame; an area based detection unit which extracts a second panoramic area by considering surrounding pixels of an inspection target pixel; a movement determination unit which extracts a pixel group, having a pixel corresponding to the second panoramic area among a pixel group of the first panoramic area, to a final movement area.
