The device has a collecting electrode (5) lying at a ground potential, where electrically charged particles from a gas flow are accumulated at the collecting electrode. Counter electrodes (6) are arranged in a flow channel (1) and electrically connected with the collecting electrode. The counter electrodes form a corona discharge during exceeding of a boundary field intensity of an electrical field due to particle space charge in a region of the counter electrodes, where the corona discharge is polarized opposite to another corona discharge formed at a star-shaped spraying electrode (4). The counter electrode is a clamped wire. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a kit for retrofitting an electrical separator (2) a method for separating particles from a gas flow charged with particles.
