<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotary electric machine for a vehicle which improves the cooling performance of a power converter including multiple modules respectively having switching elements. <P>SOLUTION: A power converter 11 of an electric generator 1 for a vehicle includes multiple switching modules 5X, each of which has a switching element and a heat radiation heat sink 56, and the like. Each of the multiple switching modules 5X and the like is attached to an axial end surface of a rear frame 24 so that the heat sink 56 faces the axial end surface.
