Telemetry operated running tool

A running tool 53 for deploying a tubular string into a wellbore includes a tubular body 65 and a latch 69 for releasably connecting the tubular string to the body 65. The latch 69 includes a longitudinal fastener for engaging a longitudinal profile of the tubular string and a torsional fastener for engaging a torsional profile of the tubular string. The running tool 53 further includes a lock 67 movable between a locked position and an unlocked position and the lock 67 keeps the latch 69 engaged in the locked position. The running tool 53 further includes an actuator 75 operable to at least move the lock from the locked position to the unlocked position and an electronics package in communication with the actuator 75 for operating the actuator in response to receiving a command signal.
