The present invention relates to a preparation method of L-lactide or D-lactide with improved optical purity, comprising a step of recrystallizing a lactide sample mixed with optical isomers into a mixed solvent containing alkyl propionate and water. The preparation method of the present invention can provide lactide by selectively increasing optical purity and lowering acidity. The high-purity lactide produced by the preparation method can be effectively used for producing high-quality polylactide with high molecular weight.
