Disclosed are a method for authenticating a payment which occurred abroad and a system thereof. The method for authenticating a payment which occurred abroad comprises the steps of: when a mobile terminal of a user is located overseas, the mobile terminal′s overseas payment authenticating system displays information on the mobile terminal indicating a credit card of the user can perform a payment only when a short range wireless communication is performed with the mobile terminal; the overseas payment authenticating system determines if the short range wireless communication is done between the mobile terminal and the credit card; and, when it is determined the short range wireless communication is done, the overseas payment authenticating system transmits a request signal to the credit card company system corresponding to the credit card. The credit card which was set to be not able to pay overseas by the credit card company system is set to be able to pay by responding to the transmitted request signal.
